Right now, we are looking for a talented Art Director with an eye for detail and a passion for improving and elevating others to join one of our unannounced original IPs! In this role, you will use your talents to collaborate with our art team in the creation of game-ready assets. You will help drive quality and accountability for all art disciplines to meet the visual goals of the project.
The ideal candidate has a strong artistic background, is passionate about supporting their team to create high quality assets that help push the visual quality of our game worlds, and is a strong collaborator who is willing to solve a variety of production challenges.
This Art Director is about managing and improving others. You would be accountable for and are evaluated by the quality of others' output.
Responsibilities:
- Orchestrating all work across the discipline to ensure consistency and quality and do so by building a holistic strategy and vision
- Guide the art style and art quality of the game
- Maintain a high quality bar for visuals and support your team to be accountable for hitting it
- Regulate stylistic consistency of art content, ensuring it all fits within our highly readable, clean and simple non-photorealistic style
- Work with the Recruiting Team to handle art staffing as needs arise
- Inspire a team of artists and provide support to art leads and help them grow in their careers
- Ensure content is created with gameplay requirements and technical specifications in mind, to ensure that art, design, and technology converge to create the best possible product
- Provide feedback on art content as it’s produced
Requirements:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in game development, with at least 5 of those years in Art Direction
- Being proficient and developed in pipelines with Unreal Engine
- The ability to work through people and inspire others to excel
- A keen eye for visuals, understanding what good looks like in terms of composition, palette, silhouette, and motion
- Experience with realistic and stylized art styles, someone who can find the sweet spot between realism and exaggeration
- Working knowledge of Maya or equivalent 3D software
- Experience building and managing teams
- The ability to thrive in and promote a culture of collaboration and transparency
- The ability to work and lead remotely
Preferred:
- Some experience in multiple facets of game development: concept art, modeling, sculpting, animation, graphic design, illustration, VFX, tech art
- Experience working with Agile
- Experience succeeding in a matrix organizational structure
This role is open to remote applicants residing in approved US states or Canadian provinces. Hybrid work options are available for people living in or willing to relocate to Vancouver, Canada where our headquarters is located.
