Phoenix Labs is looking for an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to support work on our Social & Interactive API’s used across all future multiplayer & cross-platform games developed at the studio.
The successful candidate is a technically minded, a succinct communicator, and someone who understands the nature & implications of live service video games being made within a dynamic development environment. As the first dedicated QA professional within this team, you will have the opportunity to define & own “what great quality looks like”, while being a strong advocate of compliance rules for user privacy.
Note - At this time we are not willing to provide relocation or immigration support for this role. This is also a hybrid position, so you would need to be within commutable distance to the Vancouver or Montreal studio and willing to come in 1-2 days/week.
Responsibilities:
- Own the vision for QA in the shared services group, working with Engineers and Technical Vision Holders to bring that vision to life.
- Be the resident expert on QA best practices, automated testing, and industry trends.
- Continually developing resources to educate co-workers about compliance, privacy, and first party "Technical Requirement Checklists".
- Build and roll out test plans, tools, and automation coverage for shared services and game team integrations.
- Promote awareness of compliance rules and restrictions on first party platform’s.
- Champion roadmap milestones for the short and long term.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in QA.
- Dedication and desire to remain in the QA profession over the long term.
- Bachelor’s Degree, DEC or relevant diploma in a related field.
- Driven and self-motivated.
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery tools.
- Bias for automation and reproducibility.
- Excellent problem solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable working closely with developers.
Preferred:
- Confidence with Jira, Confluence, Github and Perforce.
- Experience with the Python programming language.
- Experience with services deployed on a cloud computing platform.
- Familiar with and excited by video games.
- Experience supporting a live service with regularly scheduled releases.
- Experience creating a plan for, and ensuring the execution of, an automated testing strategy.
