As a Senior Level Designer, you will work on a new cross-platform free-to-play multiplayer action game in an original IP. You will be collaborating heavily with the lead designer, combat designers, and the art team to create the vision and gameplay design for the game’s levels. The game includes both PvE and PvP components, and you will work to create levels that harmoniously support both of these forms of gameplay through themes, layout, and content.
Responsibilities:
- Designing the level layout for the game’s playable areas, such as size, shape, and placement of rooms and corridors as well as placement of enemies and encounters.
- Communicating and championing the vision for the game’s levels, from theme to layout; being able to clearly explain why different level design decisions create specific gameplay.
- Implementing and iterating on the game’s levels directly in software using the Unreal Engine.
- Validating the game’s levels are meeting our gameplay goals by running playtests, evaluating feedback, and reviewing data.
- Collaborating with the art and creative departments to design fictional themes and settings for different areas of the level, to help build out the game’s world and IP.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience in level design.
- Experience working with the Unreal Engine.
- Passion for video games, with a relentless thirst for learning from playing them across all platforms: mobile, console, and PC.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep familiarity with top-down action games.
- A passion for competitive multiplayer games.
- Strong technical skills that allow you to implement content via scripting in Blueprint with minimal engineering support.
- Competence in other disciplines, such as programming, art creation, or production.
